The guys at handhelds.org have managed to boot the linux kernel on a Dell Axim X50 handheld, the project is at alpha stages, you can grab a copy of the files from handhelds.org or fisherss.com.

Nokia has developed a new browser for Series 60-based smartphones. One of the motivating factors behind Nokia designing a new Internet browser is results from a Nokia "Smartphone360" consumer research study that found that 50% of data traffic is generated by browsing.

In response to my last post on Microsoft's rapidly growing global footprint in the digital media universe, one ZDNet reader complained that, while I was reporting on that colonization, I wasn't taking a stand or expressing a viewpoint. Sharp Corporation will release the "Zaurus SL-C3100" PDA with a hard drive on June 24th. It is Open Price, where the estimated retail price is around 80,000 yen.
