Access will update its embedded browser SDK in January, adding a popup blocker, search/translation bar, Web data manager, and predictive software keyboard. NetFront SDK 3.3 can be used to create customized browsers or browser-based interfaces for Linux-based set-top boxes, digital televisions, IP phones, and game consoles, Access says.

Intrinsyc Software is shipping a preview of what it claims is the world's first Windows CE based feature-phone software platform. Feature phones represent a large and rapidly growing mobile phone market segment that is unserved by Windows Mobile, but hotly contested by embedded Linux.

Most users do not need a full-blown programming platform to develop small hacks for their phone. A scripting language is the perfect tool to automate simple tasks and perform simple logical processing. Python is a widely used scripting language in the computer world. It is easy to learn and supports object-oriented program construction. Nokia provides support for Python on most of its Series 60 devices.

LinuxDevices has once again published the proceedings of the annual Real-Time Linux Workshop. This one, the seventh, was held in France earlier this month, at the University for Science and Technology of Lille (USTL). The papers span a range of topics, from fundamental real-time technologies to applications, hardware, and tools.

So you just bought a brand new WM5 device. The box says it's got 64M of RAM. You go digging through control panels on the device and find one that says it's only got 50M. Is something wrong? 1src.com posted a list of the best and worst Palms of all time. Agreed, the PalmV was the best PDA ever released in terms of form and function, for the time (1999). It only had little memory, a problem that was fixed on the later model, PalmVx.
