The Nokia 770 could be the start of a great thing. Though it's rough around the edges, this could be a terrific little Internet-surfing gadget once Nokia shakes out the bugs (2 pages). UPDATE: One more review here (9 pages) and another one here (2 pages).

Trolltech has updated its software suite for Linux-based mobile phones. Qtopia Phone Edition (QPE) version 2.2 adds VoIP capabilities targeting dual-mode and "converged" devices, among other enhancements.

Four software vendors will demonstrate an integrated Linux mobile phone stack in San Diego this week. MontaVista, Digital Airways, Sky MobileMedia, and stealth-mode startup Bluefin Mobile will show their combined offering running on a Texas Instruments OMAP smarphone reference platform at Sky's "World Handset Forum" event.

OSNews posted a review of a Linux-based multimedia device: the TVisto 3.5" hard drive Multimedia enclosure which is also coupled as a TV jukebox able to output DivX, XviD, dvd iso, avi, vob, mpeg, mp3, wma, ogg, ac3 and aac.

Asus will follow the current trend on the market for the coming year - shifting to GPS navigation solutions and smartphones/communicators (with the focus on the latter). Asus A636 (navigation) and Asus P505 (communicator) offered by the company now are pilot balloons on the market.

LG Electronics announced the release of a new Pocket PC, the LG PM80. While the specifications are not too impressive, it does support Korea's DMB service. LG says the PM80 can offer stable DMB service while users move at more than 100km/h.

Interesting conversation brewing up here. Apple made a decision years ago to only sell a hardware-software combo. Many people feel that this is Apple's greatest strength, while others believe that this is Apple's greatest weakness. What do you think?
