The worldwide market for handheld devices swelled to its largest quarterly shipment volume all year, reaching 2.2 million units during the fourth quarter, growing 37.6% from the previous quarter. According to IDC's Worldwide Handheld QView, growth was driven largely by a combination of holiday sales and larger shipment volumes of devices that were introduced earlier in the year.

The Wilma as SonyEricsson has codenamed the handset (which is expected to be called as the K800i) has more details surfacing from China. The handset is a stunner theres no debate about that fact. Only thing missing is WiFi support.

According to a rumor received by BargainPDA.com, Dell may be halting the Axim line, and is looking at converged devices. Apparently the X51 line (see my review) will remain throughout 2006, with accessories being supplied until 2009.

Nokia has agreed to release the source code for its Python for S60 Platform software package to the global community of open-source software developers. The agreement follows on last year's launch by Nokia of the Python for S60 Platform, which enables programmers, ISVs and businesses worldwide to utilize the Python programming language to execute Python commands and run Python scripts and applications on S60-based mobile devices.
