Americans may not be as enamored by the idea of watching TV and listening to music on their cell phones as mobile carriers had hoped.

Jørgen Sundgot kicks back with Nokia's 770 Internet Tablet for a bit of light reading and e-mail. Will its lack of a keyboard prove too inefficient - and is the screen large enough?

"The rumor I found so disturbing was that the upcoming ROM releases we had so anxiously been waiting for would be missing an important piece - the A2DP profile that many of us longed for. Sure, Push Email was still there (our main desire), but for those of us who have owned bluetooth stereo headsets for quite some time without support to pair them directly with our Pocket PCs, this was almost as anticipated as instant email." More here.

"Microsoft demoed it at WinHEC 2005. While I was there, I had the opportunity to interview a woman on the MobilePC team, where she showed off the prototype device that Bill had onstage." More info and pictures here. The device seems to run at a 6 or 7 inches diagonial screen, at 1024x600 widescreen resolution.

"As usual, we can't divulge our super-secret source, but earlier this week we scored an exclusive hands-on session with the Motorola ROKR E3 (at least, we think it's called the ROKR E3!). As you've probably noticed, this is the very same mystery phone that was up on stage for a few brief moments during Ed Zander's keynote at MotoNow last summer. Motorola hasn't officially announced this phone yet."

Opera 8.5 Beta 2 adds tabbed browsing, scrolling down page-by-page with the space bar--this is BIG for me since scrolling with PIE is so tedious on Windows Mobile devices--keyboard shortcuts, and a few more fixes and improvements. I do browse quite a bit on my devices and may have to try this out on my dusty Axim X51v.

Here's a hot little number from Sagem. The MyW-7 is a fully functional multimedia phone, complete with 3G/UMTS technology, video-telephony functionality, and all those other bells and whistles you'd expect from a leading edge handset. The UMTS connection allows for data transmission speeds of up to 384 KB/sec, which is great, considering that this phone can make full use of that speed.
