PDA and smartphone shipments up worldwide

It seems the first half of this year was good for combined PDA and smartphone shipments. Gartner reported worldwide combined PDA and smartphone shipments were up 57% for the first half of 2006. In Japan, smartphone shipments actually tripled. Smartphones seem to be the big winner against PDAs considering their shipments grew 75.5% compared to the first half of last year. PDA shipments on the other hand saw a mere 5.7% increase.
