Missteps forced Palm's hand

When Palm ruled the handheld computing market, few thought it would ever have to partner with Microsoft. Palm did the right thing to go with Microsoft. PalmSouce could not deliver what Palm wanted, especially after going for PalmOS 6 instead of keeping compatibility and evolving PalmOS 5 itself. While PalmOS 6 is WAY better than OS5, "better" doesn't always means "good" in business. Consumers care about compatibility most and foremost.
